O World Economic Forum has just released the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Rankinga study that analyzes 14 dimensions of tourism and compares 136 countries. According to the survey, Brazil appears in 27th place, being the first South American country in the list and the first in the world in the natural resources category. Compared to the last report released in 2015, the country moved up one position in the overall ranking. Read the complete study here.
"The investments made in the country for the cycle of mega-events - Confederations Cup, World Cup and Olympic Games - were decisive for the country to jump from 51st in 2013 to 27th in just four years. We have advanced a lot in this period, but there is still a lot to be done. We will work punctually in each of these dimensions to put Brazil in an even more competitive position in the travel sector", said the Minister of Tourism, Marx Beltrão.
Besides keeping the leadership in natural resources, Brazil kept 8th place in the cultural dimension and improved in items such as infrastructure to serve tourists, prices and ports. In items such as business environment, government prioritization of tourism, human resources, international openness, and security, the country moved backwards, as detailed in the chart below.
