Brazil is among the 25 countries that spend the most on international tourism

Brazil was above countries like Japan, Sweden, India and the United Arab Emirates.

Brazil was one of the 25 countries that moved the most money with tourism last year, ranking 16ª position in the global comparison made by the World Tourism Organization (WTO). According to the survey, Brazilian tourists spent US$ 19 billionões last year, US$ 5 billionões more than in 2016.

In the first quarter of 2018, according to data from the Central Bank, the trendêshould remain. Brazilians spent US$ 4.932 billionões in the first threeêmonths of this year, an amount 10.2% higher than in the same period of 2017 and the best result since 2015.

"The numbers show that Brazilians areútraveling more, and our goal échannel all this potential to stimulate domestic tourism, we want more and more Brazilians to discover the beauties and charms of our countryís, not forgetting the foreign visitor," said the Minister of Tourism, Vinícius Lummertz.

The WTO attributes the growth in spending of Brazilians àconnectivity, facilitated visas and àimproved economic conditionsções.

"Emerging economies play a key role in tourism development, and we are very pleased to see the recoveryção of the Russian Federationção and Brazil and the continued growth of Índia, as these important emerging markets contribute to market growth and diversificationção in many destinations," explained Zurab Pololikashvili, secretaryário-general of the WTO.

The country that showed the biggest increase in spending was the United States ($12 billion more), followed by China ($8 billion more), which is the leader in the total amount spent worldwide. Já the Russians spent $ 7 billion more, showing recovery in relation to previous years, as well as Brazil.
