Carnaboi 2020 promises historic edition with tribute to Arlindo Jr.

In 2020, Carnaboi reaches its 20th edition. To celebrate the date, the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy, promises a historic event, bringing together 35 attractions in the Convention Center - Sambadrome, on Fat Monday (24/02), from 17:00 pm. This year, the carnival at the boi-bumbá rhythm will pay tribute to Arlindo Jr. Admission is free.

"Carnaboi is a major differential Amazon Carnival, a traditional event that can drag thousands of people to honor the artists of this culture that represents so well our state," says the secretary of Culture and Creative Economy, Marcos Apolo Muniz.

"We bring together the greatest possible number of attractions, giving the artists the opportunity to show a little of what they have been doing in the segment.

The shows will take place from 6pm to 4am. The attractions will perform on a 360º stage, simulating the presentation of the bulls in the Bumbódromo Arena. The party will begin with the Manaus bulls: Brilhante, Garanhão and Corre Campo. In the sequence, the artists will share the stage, taking turns in the repertoire of Caprichoso and Garantido. There will always be two attractions, with one more special participation. PA Chaves and Fábio Casagrande, who invite Itamar Benarroz; Vanessa Alfaia and Mara Lima, who receive Jardel Bentes; Márcia Siqueira and Márcia Novo who have Black Marialva as guest; Canto da Mata and Fabiano Neves, with the participation of Cézar Pinheiro; Leonardo Castelo and Robson Júnior, with A Toada; Edilson Santana and Helen Veras invite the group Kaboclos.

In the middle of the party there will be the presentation of Sebastião Júnior, Gaspar Medeiros, Israel Paulain and Batucada, official items from Garantido; and David Assayag, Prince do Boi, Edmundo Oran and Marujada, from Caprichoso.

The last attractions of the night will be Carlinhos do Boi and Carlos Batata, with participation of Kamayurá; Júnior Paulain and Carrapicho, who will receive Paulinho Viana on stage.

Tribute

One of the highlights of the evening will be the tribute to boi-bumbá icon Arlindo Jr. who passed away in December 2019. "What I can advance is that we are preparing a beautiful tribute, a moment for the public to feel that Arlindo is there being part of the party," says João Fernandes, artistic director of Carnaboi 2020.

"It will be a moment of joy, very up, we want to highlight the artist Arlindo, the item of Caprichoso, passionate about the festival, a person who had a contagious energy," he points.
