In the year that celebrates 348 years of Manaus' anniversarythree representative moments for the city's culture mark the history of the official festivities: the two decades of Boi Manausthe protagonism of the residents of the surroundings of the of the Paço da Liberdade as the theme of a photographic exhibition at the City Museum; and the integration of the alternative scene with drag queens and transvestites in the official program of the city's anniversary.
On 10/23 and 10/24, all the rhythm and emotion of the toadas that have marked 20 years of the gingado that represents the capital of the North will invade the Ponta Negra Tourist Complex in more than 19 hours of boi bumbá and 32 attractions, on the trio elétrico and on the amphitheater stage.
On the 23rd, the opening will be at 5:30pm, on the amphitheater stage, with the Kamayurá and Kuarup dance groups. At 7pm the first trio will leave, which will travel along Coronel Teixeira Avenue, between the rotary of the Tropical Hotel and the sand courts of the Ponta Negra Tourist Complex, totaling 700 meters.
Artists such as Israel Paulain, David Assayag and the Marujada do Boi Caprichoso, Sebastião Junior, Leonardo Castelo, Renato Freitas, Márcia Siqueira, Prince do Boi, P.A. Chaves, Klinger Araújo, Tony Medeiros and the Batucada do Boi Garantido, Edilson Santana, Carlos Batata and Junior Paulain, Carlinhos do Boi, and groups Carrapicho and Canto da Mata, among others.
The bumbás from Manaus, Corre Campo, Brilhante and Garanhão, will close the first day of the celebrations at the Ponta Negra Tourist Complex, on the amphitheater stage, from 2:20am, when the trios' presentations end.
On the 24th, the party starts earlier, at 3:30 pm, with the trio led by the female voices of the ox, Mara Lima and Márcia Siqueira, ending at 10:50 pm, with Leonardo Castelo and Batucada.

Also on the 23rd and 24th, the stage of Les Artistes Café Teatroon September 7 Avenue, Historical Center, receives, for the first time, drag queens and transvestites from the local scene in a commemorative presentation to the city's anniversary. They will be part of the show "Rival Rebolado", which features actress Leandra Leal, in four free sessions: at 7pm and 11pm on Sunday, and at 5pm and 9pm on Monday.
More than half of the tickets have already been purchased on Thursday, 19, through online booking available on the site vivamanaus.com. The other half will be destined for people who arrive at the venue in advance, in order of arrival.
Paço da Liberdade
The Paço da Liberdade will also be on the route of the celebrations. Celebrating the 348th anniversary of Manaus are on display the exhibitions "Monumentality", which brings together works by Amazonian artist Moacir Andrade; "Endless Nights", which brings together comic works by artists from House 137 Studio; and the exhibition "Memories of the Historic Center", with photographs and a mini-documentary with testimonials from residents of the Historic Center.
The exhibition was born from the photographic record of the testimonies of residents from the surroundings of the Paço da Liberdade, who told the story of the Historic Center through their personal experiences. The documentary, which will also be exhibited, was presented during the 11th Spring of Museums, held in September. The photos are signed by Manauscult's photographer, Ingrid Anne Freire.
"Monumentality" and "Memories of the Historic Center" are exhibitions sponsored by Manauscult and are curated by the artist Oscar Ramos. Moacir Andrade was one of the most expressive artists in the Amazon, with works recognized internationally. With a consolidated career, the artist had more than 10,000 canvases painted in over 70 countries. Andrade passed away in July 2016, at the age of 89. "Monumentality" brings together some of his main paintings.
"Endless Nights" features works by different artists, national and international, in reference to the first magazine of the series "The Midnight Witch", launched by House 137 Studio. The exhibition will be on display until November 8, with free admission. In all, 48 works are displayed in the hall of the Paço da Liberdade. In this new exhibition, sign the drawings Italian artists such as Mirka Andolfo, Vincenzo Cuca and Maria Cristina Frederico, as well as Amazonian artists of international renown, as Paulo Teles Yonami, Rafael Sá, Manuel Braga, among others.
The Paço da Liberdade is located at Gabriel Salgado Street, s/n, Historical Center, and is open from Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4:30pm, and on Saturdays, from 9am to 12:30pm.
