Palacete Provincial Cultural Center

The Provincial Palace, known for over a hundred years as the Amazonas Military Police Headquarters, since 2009 has returned to its original name - Provincial Palace - is certainly a heritage that accompanies the evolution of Amazonian society.

The building is considered a tangible heritage, listed together with the Heliodoro Balbi Square and the Colégio Amazonense D. Pedro II, is under the special protection of the Permanent Commission for the Defense of Historic and Artistic Heritage. During 03 years and 03 months the State Secretary of Culture restored and revitalized the building to house 05 museums of the State: Pinacoteca, Museu da Imagem e do Som do Amazonas, Museu de Numismática Bernardo Ramos, Museu Tiradentes and the newly created Museu de Arqueologia and the Arqueology Laboratory Alfredo Mendonça de Souza and the Restoration of Works of Art and Paper Ateliers.

Exhibitions:

  • Sculptures of the World. - Prehistory, 17th and 18th centuries, Egypt, Greece, Renaissance, Contemporary and Modernism (replicas of the Louvre and Vatican Museums);
  • Office of the Work - Heritage Rescue.

Museums:

  • State of Amazonas Pinacoteca - Collection consisting of works by regional, national, and international artists;
  • Bernardo Ramos Numismatic Museum - Exhibition of coins, medals, banknotes, decorations from the ancient, middle, modern and contemporary ages. The Museum's collection comprises more than twenty thousand pieces;
  • Sound and Image Museum of Amazonas - Collection composed of VHS and DVD movies, vinyl records, audio CDs, CD-Rom, photographs, historic television equipment and projections.
  • Tiradentes Museum - Flagrant History Exhibition. Its collection consists of dozens of objects, such as: antique weapons, Fire Department equipment, uniforms, badges and decorations, documents, photographs and others;
  • Archeology Museum - Exhibition of archeological records, archeology laboratory.
