Ritual will feature an allegory of a 25-meter snake that floats in the waters and moves its head, eyes and mouth.
An aquatic spectacle with nature as a backdrop: for the first time, the traditional ritual of the Arrival of the Cobra Grande will be held in Manaus. The event, which anticipates the Folkloric Festival of Parintinswill take place in the capital on Saturday, 12/5, starting at 9 pm, at Praia Dourada, Rural Zone, and will also feature shows by artists from Amazonas.
The story portrays the legend of the Cobra Grande, which attacks the floating Golden Beach. In the sequence, the Cospe-Fogo tribes, the Pajé, and the Cunhã-Poranga come into action to tame the beast and bring peace to the tribes. The ritual, presented as a theatrical play, features a snake allegory about 25 meters long, with mechanical movements in its head, mouth, and eyes, all controlled by artists who manipulate it inside a canoe in the middle of the river.
Before the presentation, the various floating platforms that surround the beach will have musical warm-up shows. On the Seducer float, the stage will be taken by the group The Toadaand on Salomé, the entertainment will be provided by Canto da Mataon the Sun Paradise, the attraction is Marcia Novo and band, and finally, on the floating Sup Cabana, they perform Thirrê e Cláudio Tribal. The ritual performance is scheduled to start at 0:30am from Saturday to Sunday.
According to journalist Soraya Cohen, one of the organizers of the event, the ritual will be marked by the new setting, which exalts the local culture. "Bringing art in a natural setting values our culture, exalting the whole context of the Amazon legend. This is one more proof of the creativity and capacity of art in our state", he highlights.
The event will also celebrate thirty years of the Marujada Movement and the career of Soraya Cohenknown for her work in the tourism industry in Parintins.
