Post Office resumes air transport in seven counties in the interior of the Amazon

The start of operations depends only on the bidding process.

The Post Office will resume, in early April, its operations of air cargo transport in seven municipalities in the interior of Amazon. The measure was thanks to the articulation of the Federal Deputy Átila Lins with the company. The start of operations depends only on the bidding process.

The first municipalities to benefit from the regular service of the Correios will be Tefé, Coari, Carauari, Eirunepé, Envira, Tabatinga e São Paulo de Olivença. All of them will have air parcel transportation at least once a week, guaranteeing more efficiency in transportation within the state.

Today, without the company's complete coverage in all of Amazonas, there is a great loss in the delivery of items. Because of the continental dimensions, there is a great delay, with no regular service and low quality.

One of the first cities that will receive the service again is Envira, where operations should start as early as March 30. According to the mayor Ivon Rates, the delay in the delivery of parcels and letters can take two months in certain riverbanks, because of the logistical difficulty and lack of supply of the service.

"Orders sent by boat to Juruá or Purus take sixty days between postage and delivery. There are fishermen in Envira who have not yet received their Unemployment Insurance because their account card was posted, but has not arrived yet. The return of air freight changes this story," said the mayor.
