The Day of Photography
Photography is one of the greatest inventions of the modern era, which allows one to register and reproduce, by means of chemical reactions and on surfaces prepared for the purpose, the images taken on the back of a dark camera.
August 19 was chosen in reference to the invention of the daguerreotype, the predecessor of photographic cameras, an ancient device invented by Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, a French physicist and painter, which fixed the images taken in the darkroom on a silver leaf on a copper plate. It was on August 19, 1839 that the French Academy of Sciences announced the new invention worldwide.
