The Muse will be open as normal on Children's Day, from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Fungi are not plants, they move, they are not bugs either. There are thousands, millions of them, few are known and some are edible like shitakis or mushrooms. This Thursday, October 12, a fungarium will be part of the guided tour program in the forest. Another activity included in this special day is the experimental butterfly lab. O Musa will be open as usual on Children's Dayfrom 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Usually the guided tour in the forest goes through the serpentarium, the water lily pond, the Amazon fish aquarium, and the Fish and People exhibit. With the fungarium and the experimental butterfly laboratory, the tour promises to be even more interesting. Fungi are important for the maintenance of the forest because they recycle nutrients. Without fungi and microorganisms there would be no degradation of organic matter and decomposition of leaves, for example. "In the fungarium the children will be able to observe how some fungi develop, including their different shapes and colors. While in the experimental butterfly laboratory there are at least seven different species," explains the director of Musa, Ennio Candotti.
To take the guided tour it is necessary to arrive no later than 3:30 pm, since the tour has a minimum duration of one hour. Even with the special activities, the price for the walk on the trail will be the same as on normal days, R$10. Children up to five years old do not pay.
