With a show that will bring together artists that are still alive and musicians of the new generation, Cauxi Productions will launch, on November 6th, the documentary "The Poetics of Beiradão".contemplated in Natura Musical 2018, which makes a cut about the movement that dominated the radios and parties in the 80s. The event will take place within the programming of the project "Tacacá na Bossa", in the Largo de São Sebastião, with free access.
The documentary approaches the phonographic production of Amazonian composers such as Teixeira de Manaus, Magalhães da Guitarra, André Amazonas, Oseas da Guitarra, and Chico Caju who, in the 80's, living along the banks of the Amazonian rivers, established a musical production based on experimentation and exchange of cultural knowledge.
Director of the documentary and cultural producer, Rafael Ângelo, highlights that the launching concert will feature readings and re-readings of the artists' songs portrayed in the video.
"The show will be special, with Chico Caju singing his own songs, and also some songs by Teixeira de Manaus; Lico Magalhães, who is Magalhães da Guitarra's son, will do his father's songs, along with the musicians from Alaídenegão and Betinho da Guitarra," says Rafael, who is also guitarist for Alaídenegão. "We want to show all the diversity of Beiradão.
The documentary
"A poética dos beiradões" was contemplated by the 2018 Natura Musical Edital. With a little over an hour long, it has interviews and reports from musicians who played a leading role in the beiradão musical movement; testimonials from researchers Rafael Branquinho, about the ethnography of beiradão; and Odenei Ribeiro, about the social issues that involve the leisure of beiradão music; and from musician Eliberto Barroncas, who tells his experiences, perceptions and ideas about beiradão music.
Also in the documentary are some spectators of the beiradão shows, such as Gildomar Campos and Raiuda Moreira, who relate their experiences at the peak of the movement; as well as readings and re-readings of beiradão hits.
"Beiradão is not a genre; it is a musical movement that mixes several rhythms, including carimbó, lambada, xote, samba, forró, and Latin music. We want to show a little of the history of these songs recorded in the 80's and that are of a unique originality, that have a difference from everything else that is done, which is a reference for us, and that even today inspires groups that are based on this musical aesthetic", comments the director.
After the release, "A poética dos beiradões" will be available on Cauxi Produções' YouTube channel and other free platforms.
