Photo: Divulgation | With more than 20 thousand spectators, the show returns to the stage of the Teatro Amazonas next Sunday (5).
The time has come for the The Marguerite Appeared Theater Company to celebrate the 10th anniversary of one of its most successful shows: 'The Cursed Inheritance of Mercedita de La Cruz'. Written by Sérgio Cardoso, directed by Chico Cardoso, the 'hit' of the Amazon theater this century, with more than 20 thousand spectators, returns to the stage of the Amazonas Theaternext Sunday (5), at 7pm, with tickets priced at R$ 20 (R$ 10 for students).
The show has as its main axis the decadence and economic decline of the city of Manaus with the end of the rubber boom, caused by the vertiginous fall in the world market, in the transition from the 40s to the 50s. It was a time when all the city's traditional families moved to Rio de Janeiro in search of better days, escaping from the economic chaos and bankruptcy. In the play, Manaus is portrayed as Lazone, an almost ghost town that feeds on the hatred and desire for revenge of those who stayed behind. It is in this scenario that lives Mercedita de La Cruz, a famous bridal fashion designer, who becomes the main victim of the hatred and revenge of her own family.
The actor and creator of the project, Michel Guerrero, recalls the impact the play had at the time of its premiere in 2006.
"We didn't know that the play was going to be a hit. That magical night already showed us the success of the play, which then went to Rio de Janeiro, Acre and Amapá and earned awards for the direction and playwright. Big sold-out seasons were held in local venues, such as Teatro da Instalação, ICBEU Auditorium, Sesc Theater, and Teatro Amazonas, among others," he said.
For the 10th anniversary performance, the original cast of the show will be kept, with the actors Michel Guerrero, Arnaldo Barreto, and Nivaldo Mota, except for Paulo Altallegre, who will be replaced by Hely Pinto. Tickets for the presentation are already on sale at the Amazonas Theater box office.
