Through dialogues about the experiences of women in a society that oppresses and kills them, the Coletivo Experimental de Teatralidades (CETA) (CETA) presents this Saturday (01/25), at 6pm, the show Mocinhaat the Cultural Center Usina Chaminélocated on Avenida Lourenço da Silva Braga, s/n, center of Manaus. The project, which goes through the stories of victims of feminicide in the Amazon capital, was contemplated in the Amazonas Scenic Edict, the Department of Culture and Creative Economy of Amazonas.
According to the show's director, Lu Maya, the initial research proposal is to talk about the countless violence that every woman experiences in her daily life. "The show emerges from several concerns of women who make up our collective. From that, we realized that women, when they leave home, take public or private transportation, on the internet and especially at home, suffer retaliation and violence for being women", she explained.
The creative process
In the cast, actresses Iris Brasil and Karol Medeiros were able to share personal stories for the construction of the scene as Lu Maya informs. "As the research went on, we arrived at a key point in the process, which stemmed from situations that coincided with the reality of the artists who are in the process." The process uses real stories of victims of feminicide or attempts of this crime in Manaus, which had an increase of 300% in the year 2019, according to the Public Security Secretariat of the State of Amazonas (SSP-AM).
The dramaturgy of 'Mocinha' also contains excerpts from the book "Other Ways to Use the Mouth", by author Rupi Kaur, which brings in the form of poetry accounts of violence against women. The indicative rating for the show is 16 years old and admission is free.
