Starting this week, those who visit the Shopping Ponta Negra Mall will be enchanted by the free exhibition of the artists José Machado, Erlique Lima and Júnior Charcha. In all, five exclusive carnival costumes will be on display until February 20, on the second floor (L2). Another event that promises to color the corridors of Ponta Negra is the Bloco da Bicharada, which takes place this Saturday (2/15).
Among the costumes are the "Wizard of Dreams", "Lord of Love" and "The Flame is Not Quenched". The designer José Machado says that some of them were produced for the event and others have already been used in parades of the samba school Vitória Régia and Andanças de Ciganos.
Machado explains that the production of the costumes can take up to months. The "Lord of Love", for example, took nine months to be completed and cost R$ 55 thousand. Besides the colorfulness, the luxurious pieces use several types of feathers, feathers, rhinestones, and sequins.
"The inspiration comes from the samba school's theme song," reveals Machado, who has been creating carnival costumes and folkloric festivals since 1975. This year, the artist signs the costumes of the flag-bearer and ballerina couples of the Presidente Vargas and Reino Unido da Liberdade samba schools.
Carnaval Pet
This Saturday (2/15), from 4pm to 8pm, Shopping Ponta Negra will host the Bloco da Bicharada (Pet Block), on the second floor, next to the Brink Mania store. The event takes place in partnership with the Organization Bicho Amado (OBA) and will feature a parade, pet beautification, contest to choose the best costume, awards and adoption of animals rescued by OBA.
The event will award the most original productions with a kit of products from the NGO's partners. Dogs and cats of all sizes can participate, as long as they are wearing a collar or harness.
