More than 50 artisans, registered in the database of the Department of Solidarity and Creative Economy of the Municipal Department of Labor, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Semtepi), exhibit since Thursday, 19/12, their handmade products at a Christmas fair at Ponta Negra waterfront, West zone, organized by the Manaus City Hall. The fair is available until this Sunday, 22/12, from 16h to 22h.
The traditional fair is held since 2013, and is an alternative to increase sales of artisans at the end of year, with shopping options for consumers.
From this edition, the fair has a fixed stage where amateur artists have the opportunity to present their work to the visiting public. According to Semtepi's director, Virgílio Melo, the idea is a test for a larger project that will be implemented next year.
"Many artists come to us asking for support in publicizing their work through our department. We had the idea of putting them in our craft fairs from now on. For now it is a test, but in 2020 we will start the actual project and create a database of amateur singers willing to perform at our events," he said.
Virgílio also pointed out that the artists will also have a space in the tents, where they can sell their CDs, shirts, and other products, so that the profits can help leverage their careers even further.
The musical program includes rapper Lucka Brasil, Colombian Lucho Inca, and the band Perdidos.
