Presentation takes place at the Teatro da Instalação this Saturday (4), starting at 7pm.
Discussing gender issues and transsexuality, the group from Mato Grosso Young Faces brings to Manaus next Saturday, 4/8, the show "Aliceas part of the programming of Sesc Amazônia das Artes. The presentation takes place at 7 pm, at the Teatro da Instalaçãoin the Historical Center, with free admission.
In "Alice", the title character doesn't see herself as Fernando and, when she starts to wear clothes with which she identifies herself to school, she suffers violence from some students and the disregard of teachers who can't and won't discuss gender. Between the discoveries of adolescence and the frontiers of her own body, Alice fights for the right to be happy.
The Faces Jovem theater group works on issues related to youth and social problems in order to maintain a horizontal dialogue with adolescents and young people. This is how "Alice" came about, a project proposed by students from a neighborhood on the outskirts of Primavera do Leste (MT), who shared their stories of bullying and difficulties of identification with the school, to talk about the need to also be heard and how difficult it is their attempts to feel good in the face of social invisibility, once they are outside aesthetic or gender standards.
Young Faces
The group was created in 2009 by teenagers who performed theater in social projects in poor communities throughout the city of Primavera do Leste (MT). They were young people who, when they reached their 15th year and had to start choosing their professions, decided to follow an artistic career and set up an independent performing arts group with the interest of deepening their study of collaborative theater.
