Comic turns mythological Amazonian figures into forest guardians

"Amazônidas: Guardians of the Forests" brings the story of the Indian Anhangá, a defender of the forest, rejected by his own tribe

A comic book (HQ) produced by artists from House 137 Studio transformed mythological indigenous figures into central characters of the work "Amazons: Guardians of the Forests. The project was funded through the 2017 Cultural Connections call for proposals, of Manaus City Hall, and brings the story of the Indian Anhangá, a defender of the forest rejected by his own tribe.

Ademar Vieira and Paulo Teles Yonami wrote the script for the work, with Yonami's argument and lyrics. "Amazônidas" also counts with drawings by Thiago Vale, final art by Emanuel Braga, and colors by Marcos Martins, in a House 137 production.

"The drawings are very cool, I believe the public will enjoy them. We made an overview, organized references, not only from the indigenous culture, but also from Christianity, with the Divine Comedy, a work by Dante Alighieri, to help structure the plot of the book and the final result was very, very nice indeed," explained Yonami.

On Wednesday morning (18), House 137 promoted an exhibition at Kalena Café, South-Central zone, with pages from "Amazônidas". Who attended the event won a copy of the comic. The initiative was in return for the support of the Manaus City Hall.

Moreover, still in return, the studio distributed 480 copies in public schools of Manaus. Anyone interested in acquiring a comic book of "Amazons: Guardians of the Forests" can contact the studio through the social network Instagram: @house_137.
