About the Museum

The Museum was inaugurated on March 13, 1985, at Av. Sete de Setembro. O Museum of North Man was managed by Fundação Joaquim Nabuco, through the Institute of Amazonian Studies, until 2006, when Fundaj ceased its activities in the northern region.

On September 29, 2011, the Museu do Homem do Norte reopens its doors to the public, in a new phase, with a new curatorship, and adequate facilities, fulfilling an aspiration of its original project: to have open-air exhibition spaces, which was possible thanks to the current location, at the Centro Cultural dos Povos da Amazônia, which has a large outdoor area.
