On this date it is common for some people to overdose on alcohol and wake up on January 1st with the famous hangover. For those who want to celebrate with a drink, but don't want to suffer with discomfort the next day, the nutritionist at Pátio Gourmet, Lívia Ribeiro, gives tips to help with hangover symptoms. But she warns: the ideal is not to overindulge in alcoholic beverages.
According to her, alcohol is diuretic and causes a dehydration process in the body. It is common that after excessive drinking, people feel headache, discomfort in the eyes caused by light, sweating, nausea, and diarrhea. Therefore, the first tip is to alternate drinking alcoholic beverages with water. For each dose of distilled beverage, the orientation is to drink a 200 ml glass of water. In the case of beer, the recommendation is that for each glass ingested, the person should drink 150 ml of water.
Another tip for those who are going to consume booze is to have a snack based on whole wheat bread sandwiches with cheese before bedtime. "This will help you wake up better," he said. About the use of medication to prevent hangovers, the nutritionist points out that before self-medicating it is important to seek guidance from a specialist.
The day after drinking, the recommendation is to drink plenty of liquids. Fruits rich in water, such as watermelon, tangerine, melon, and apple, can be consumed without restrictions. At mealtimes, the ideal is to opt for light dishes, such as salads, fish, and chicken. Broths, such as lentil, green, and charcoal, are also good options. The detox juices also contribute to the reduction of hangover symptoms.
Below the nutritionist teaches two types of juice to help ease the hangover.
