A Amazonas Chamber Orchestra (OCA) opens the works of 2020 with a presentation at the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center this Saturday (08/2), at 11am, with free admission and free rating. The concert, sponsored by the State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart e Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky.
The conductor is Marcelo de Jesus, who says that this year the OCA is returning to its origins, with a traditional repertoire, ranging from baroque to contemporary. Another novelty is the selection of works, which will now be done in a more collective way, with the participation of the orchestra's musicians.
"The concerts will now have a repertoire suggested by our musicians, and we will have a form of curatorship. In these concerts, we will also start to inform about these musicians and their trajectories, and thus seek a new form of dialogue with the public that attends our events.
For this Saturday's concert, the repertoire was still in the conductor's hands, and he chose the works "Brandenburg Concerto" by Bach, "Divertimento" by Mozart, and "Serenade" by Tchaikovsky.
"We have three great works of string literature. In 'Brandenburg' we have a piece written only for strings of great importance and value, and technically very difficult to perform. Mozart's 'Divertimento' is already part of OCA's gravitational center, a classical repertoire, in which we already have an established language. After an interval of 10 minutes, we come back with 'Serenata', a very robust work of 30 minutes duration, the height of romanticism. Thus, we have works that represent the great pillars of classical music," says Marcelo de Jesus.
The concert will have a second presentation on February 13, at 7pm, at the Palácio Rio Negro Cultural Center. The idea of starting the OCA's work in presentations outside the Teatro Amazonas is to seek new audiences, according to the conductor.
"We want to expand our audience and diversify our public, following the guidance of Secretary Marcos Apolo Muniz. These concerts are also a warm-up for the audience to prepare for the Festival Amazonas de Ópera," said the conductor.
