The Rio Branco Palace was built between the years 1905 and 1938, in eclectic style, formed of two floors and presenting three sections. Located next to Dom Pedro II Square, it was projected with the purpose of housing the Police Headquarters, which didn't happen, remaining, after the conclusion of the work during Álvaro Botelho Maia's administration on September 7th, under the responsibility of the Amazonas State Legislative Assembly, which installed its headquarters there only 34 years later, in the 1970s.

Today, a World Cultural Heritage Site, an incomparable recognition, a cultural heritage with architecture and political memories, it imposes itself as one of the buildings of architectural relevance in the urban landscape of Manaus, reminding us of the riches of the rubber cycle's heyday.

Open to the public as a Cultural Center, interacting with it in the form of a trip back in time, disclosing its history with exhibitions of works of art by artists from Amazonas.

Program

  • Exhibition of Art Relative to Political History;
  • Exhibition of the Legislative Power of Amazonas;
  • Literary Release;
  • Virtual Library/subjects related to political science.

The Rio Branco Palace also houses the Office of the President of the Legislative Assembly. Installed in the Cônego Azevedo Room, who was the first president of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Amazonas (1852), it is composed of Manueline-style furniture and is prepared to serve the legislative president in official events, especially for receptions for political and diplomatic authorities.
