The new bridge comes to replace an old structure, which offered great risk by presenting cracks and sinking lane.
The bridge on the avenue Professor Nilton Lins, in the neighborhood Parque das Laranjeiras, South-Central zone, received the night of Thursday, 14/12, the application of asphalt layer and more than 400 cubic meters of concrete are already paved. This is the last stage of construction, which will be delivered and released to traffic, by the Manaus City Hall, next Saturday, 16/12.
According to the schedule of the Municipal Department of Infrastructure (Seminf), this Friday, 15/12, are being made the finishing touches on the curb and gutter and also a general cleaning in the area. The new bridge will replace an old structure, which offered great risk because of cracks and sinking of the roadway.
The new crossing will also have a garden for decorative effect and a guardrail barrier, protecting pedestrians passing through the space, in addition to two 2.5-meter walkways for those who wish to cross on foot. The new bridge is encased in concrete and will be able to support a greater flow of vehicles as the city grows over the years.
The contract for the work was signed on October 20, by Seminf, with a deadline for delivery of construction of 90 days, so until January 2018. As the site was condemned by a report certified by the Civil Defense, for presenting risks of collapse, a safety measure taken because of the overload of vehicles, forced the total ban of the area on September 20 this year and the demolition of the old bridge was made immediately.
New loops
On Professor Nilton Lins Avenue two return loops were also implanted, which will make it easier and safer for those who want to turn around and access Beija-Flor. 160 cubic meters of concrete were used in the two return loops, which will be named after Joaquim Fonseca, a tribute to the Seminf employee, who worked for 15 years in the agency's field team and died in September this year, at the age of 53.
