Edital Manaus Cultural Connections Award Competition 2017, with an investment of R$ 2 million.

With an investment of R$ 2 million, the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult) launches on Thursday, 18/5, the Announcement of the Manaus Cultural Connections Award Competition 2017. Altogether, will be awarded 75 projects in different financial modules focused on arts and culture.

The notice will be launched by Mayor Arthur Virgilio Neto and the CEO of Manauscult, Bernardo Monteiro de Paula, in Rio Branco Palace, in Praça Dom Pedro II, Manaus Historical Center, at 14h. In this edition, the award is divided into four financial modules, being 20 prizes worth R$ 10 thousand; 15 prizes of R$ 20 thousand; 30 prizes of R$ 30 thousand; and 10 prizes of 60 thousand.

According to Bernardo Monteiro de Paula, through the edicts, the Manaus City Hall intends to foster the development of cultural activities in the most diverse languages, allowing cultural agents and society in general to choose their own cultural purposes.

"This is the last discretionary edict. Thanks to the determination of Mayor Arthur Neto, we had the sanction of the Municipal Culture Promotion System (Siscult), which makes the promotion policy through public notices mandatory. From next year, it becomes a state policy ", said the CEO of Manauscult.

Also according Bernardo, the main change in this announcement is the classification of projects by financial module, without the need to categorize them in an artistic-cultural segment such as, for example, production, assembly, urban intervention. "It is an open edital in arts and culture, which allows people to propose activities that are transversal to the various segments. We want to expand the possibilities and stimulate projects that dialogue based on the diversity of cultural expressions", he added.

For the audiovisual sector, there will be a specific edict, to be launched soon, with resources supplemented by the National Cinema Agency (Ancine).

Cultural Connections

The last Culture edicts (Cultural Connections, Hip Hop, and Artistic Occupation) resulted in more than 400 cultural events held in different areas of the city, with free activities, including the counterparts required by the edict. "This is a way of generating value to society from the resources invested in promoting culture," Bernardo said.

Only by the Manaus Cultural Connections Award 2015 were held over a year, 112 dance and theater performances, 26 workshops, a musical show, seven CD productions, two theater productions, three DVD productions, eight co-production exchanges, a documentary and a literary production.
