City Hall has permanent surveillance on the traffic of the avenue Efigênio Sales

Heavy vehicles passing at high speed in the left lane end up running over and killing parakeets that use trees in the central median as shelter.

The circulation of heavy vehicles on the left lane of the avenue Efigênio Sales, South Central zone, resulted in the fining of 256 drivers, in the period from January 1 to February 14 this year. The strengthening in surveillance follows the guidance of the Manaus City Hall, which has monitored the heavy vehicle traffic in this road corridor in the South Central zone, where cases of disobedience to traffic laws and collision of trucks with wild birds sheltered in the trees of the central bed were recorded.

The infractions registered by the inspection team of the Municipal Institute of Traffic Engineering and Inspection (Manaustrans) refer to the non-compliance of drivers to the signs installed on the road warning that slow vehicles should always travel in the right lane. Failure to comply with the signage is a medium offense, worth R$ 130.16, with the insertion of four points on the Driver's License.

The presence of the agents has been permanent after information that drivers, in addition to disobeying traffic laws, were causing large vehicles to crash into the branches of the trees in the central strip, resulting in the death of hundreds of parakeets that were in the vegetation.
