Christmas program, dance and theater performances, book launches and film screenings on the agenda for the weekend

The spaces managed by the State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy will offer more than 20 free options for those who want to enjoy the weekend in Manaus. The programming features Christmas-themed activities, dance and theater performances, book launches and film screenings. Check it out:

Friday (13/12)

5 PM - Within the "Christmas Present" program, the Largo de São Sebastião and surroundings will have a Christmas Fair, with 20 craft and gastronomy stalls, a presentation by Spaghetti the Clown and playful activities with Criatê Arte e Produção (José Clemente street); Musikart Choir, "Transpirarte" dance show and Elias Moreira's show (Lira stage); as well as Santa Claus' House, open for visitation until 8:30pm. Free access.

6 PM - At Jefferson Péres Park (avenue Lourenço da Silva Braga, 1.507, Centro), the contemporary dance show "Z.D.P. - Zona de Desenvolvimento Proximal" will be presented. Contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019 Edict, it is a learning process through interaction with the environment and brings together a set of movements, each with its own history, meaning and code. In this way, the presentation adapts to the environment, becoming a continuous process always. Free access and rating, free.

19h - In the Largo Gallery (rua Costa Azevedo, 290, Centro) will happen the launching of "Encontro de Sonhos", a work by José Maria Gomes Monteiro, which tries to rescue the history of young people and gentlemen in Amazonas, who dreamed of having a more just society. With the story of each one, the author put together a puzzle similar to the poem "Baú Velho", by Farias de Carvalho, which is quoted in the book. Free entrance and free rating.

7pm - At the State Center for the Elderly (Wilkens de Matos Street, Aparecida), the actor Michel Guerrero will present "Facts and Figures with Lady Parker", a play sponsored by the Edital Amazonas Cênico, in which the character Lady Parker - a blonde pop baré, perua, singer, rich, but poor and humble origin - after five marriages (all with European husbands who have left for the better), is single and looking for a sixth husband, this time in Manaus, in the middle of the tour of "Facts and Photos". Free access and free rating.

19h - At Gebes Medeiros Theater (avenue Eduardo Ribeiro, 937, Center, former Ideal Club), there will be the performance "House of Sananga, Tales and Tea", also contemplated in the Amazonas Scenic Edital 2019, in which are proposed exchanges of visual, sound, smell and taste experiences, involving elements of the Amazon, as well as baths and footwashing with aromatic herbs from the region, exchange of popular knowledge about forest medicines, tasting of non-conventional food plants (PNCs), tasting of teas and sharing of sensations and stories of the Amazonian caboclo imaginary. Free access and free classification.

7pm - At Cultural Center Usina Chaminé (avenue Manaus Moderna, s/nº, Center), will be presented "Jamais Fomos Modernos", show contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019 Edict that brings together theatrical improvisation, contemporary dance and urban dances. Free classification and free access.

19h - At Cineteatro Guarany (Vila Ninita, attached to the Palácio Rio Negro Cultural Center, avenida Sete de Setembro, 1.546, Centro) will have presentation of "Asperger", contemporary dance performance contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019 Edital and that shows the internal conflict that individuals with a high degree of Autism live in their daily lives, such as social isolation, lack of perception and attention, inappropriate use of objects and the crises, which go through the disordered processing in their brain. Free access and free rating.

19h30 - At São Sebastião Church (rua 10 de Julho, s/nº, Centro), the closing of the Guaraná XVI Series will take place, with the Madrigal Ivete Ibiapina and the Amazonas Chamber Orchestra conducted by Marcelo de Jesus. The program includes works by Arcangelo Corelli (Concerto Grosso in G minor "Made for Christmas Eve") and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Ave Verum Corpus and Christmas Medley). Free admission.

Saturday (12/14)

10AM - At the Gebes Medeiros Theater (avenue Eduardo Ribeiro, 937, Centro, Ideal Clube) will be held a cycle of lectures of the photographic exhibition "Paths of Rio", with Adriana Lima, Gisele Gomes and Raimundo Cavalcante. Admission is free and the classification is free.

3 PM - The Largo Gallery receives the third edition of Graff Feira, an independent fair that brings together products of urban writers/graffiti artists and values the alternative art scene. Admission is free.

4pm - At the Hall of the Amazonas Theaterthe Vocal Group of the Artistic Bodies will perform a soirée with a Christmas repertoire. Free admission.

5pm - At the Largo de São Sebastião and surroundings, within the "Christmas Present" program, there will be a performance by Tio Peteka and ludic activities with Tapa Produções (José Clemente street); Coral do Icbeu and Ketlen Nascimento (Lira stage); Caravana Coca-Cola (Costa Azevedo street); as well as activities at the Christmas Fair and visits to Santa Claus' House (Casa das Artes). Free access.

17h - The Rio Negro Park (rua Beira Mar, São Raimundo) will host "Art in the Park", a show contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019 Edict, with free admission. The theatrical performance consists of a photo essay, where an actress dressed as a bride changes veils, one being red and the other black, which symbolize violence and mourning. In parallel, three other actresses dressed in black display banners in protest. The show seeks to impact the audience through statistical data on the tracks presented on stage, which deal with violence suffered by women and the high rate of feminicide in Brazil.

5 PM - Also contemplated by the Amazonas Cênico 2019, the show "Gargalhadas com o Palhaço Picolé", at Jefferson Péres Park, promises to entertain the audience with magic, jokes, clowning and will also make the audience reflect on the importance of the clown today, with a simple language, playful and very funny. Admission is free and the rating is free.

6:30pm - The Art Film Society of the Department of Culture and Creative Economy will show the documentary "Arnaldo Santos - Memories of a sports chronicler", by Sérgio Cardoso, at the Desembargador Hamilton Mourão movie theater, in the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center (avenue Eduardo Ribeiro, 901, Center). Admission is free and the rating is free.

7pm - At Usina Chaminé Cultural Center happens the show "Fina", with free admission and free rating. Contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019 public notice, "Fina" is the story of a girl who looks like you. Actually, not that similar, but it is the story of a part of you, of me, of each one of us. Thin for its own sake. Nice, sweet, cute, high-spirited, super-intelligent, sometimes too lonely, good at poetry, and even better at salsa dancing, hip, stylish, and sometimes a little sadder than she would like to be, but above all, a very, very creative girl.

7pm - The Installation Theater (rua Frei José dos Inocentes, Centro) will host the dance-theater show "Lady Macbeth". Inspired by Shakespeare's work and by Pina Bausch's "Café Müller", it points out the current discourse of women's social issues. The event is free and the rating is for 12 years.

7 PM - The show "O Delírio de Zuíla" (Zuíla's Delirium), contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019, will be presented at the Gebes Medeiros Theater, with free admission and rating for 14 years. The play presents elements of contemporary theater, recreating the anguish of characters facing a situation of extreme adversity (feminicide). The scene associates to the dramaturgical text the representation in pantomime, using few elements on scene, valuing the movement and gesture of the actors.

7pm - At Cineteatro Guarany the contemporary dance performance "Tramas" takes place, with free admission and free classification. Contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019, the show develops in a body research and its multiple capacities to adapt to various tasks proposed by everyday life, tracing an interpersonal dialogue in the constructions of stories and their fluences for personal maturation. "Tramas" is a story of struggle and transformations.

Sunday (12/15)

5 PM - Continuing the "Christmas Present" program, at Largo de São Sebastião and surroundings, there will be a presentation of the show "The joy of playing" and playful activities with Cia Metamorfose (José Clemente street); Coral Adventus, Cia Trilhares and Nícolas Junior (Lira stage); as well as a Christmas Fair and Visit to Santa Claus' House. Free access.

6 PM - The current Christmas concert by the children's choir of the Glomam Foundation will be held at the Palácio Rio Negro Cultural Center (Sete de Setembro Avenue, 1546, Centro), with free admission and free rating. The repertoire will include the popular songs "Se esta rua", "Terezinha de Jesus", "O Anel", "O cravo brigou com a rosa", "O Caranguejo", and the Christmas songs "Noite Feliz", "Anoiteceu", "Jingle Bells" and "Pierpont".

6 PM - The Installation Theater (rua Frei José dos Inocentes, Centro) receives the show "Paths of the Heart", which will be presented by children from the "Frei's Paths" project, put on by the Instituto Amazônia. Admission is free and the rating is free.

18h - "Farewell Rehearsal", contemplated in the 2019 Amazonas Scenic Edital, will be presented at the Gebes Medeiros Theaterwith free admission and rating for 16 years. The show tells the story of a couple that brings together the various stages of their relationship, sometimes abusive. Here we have several memories present in many boxes, where nobody knows if they arrive or if they are leaving. There is no one to blame, all sides of this relationship are put into the scenic game. The show invites us to reflect about our relationships.

6 PM - Also contemplated in the Amazonas Cênico 2019 Edital, "Ruin" will be presented at Cineteatro Guaranywith free admission and free rating. In this dance show, the deforestation of the Amazon Rainforest is the main theme. In the presentation there is a connecting thread, something that makes it move, something that provokes and consumes everything that happens throughout the show: saving the planet.

7pm - At the music room Desembargador Paulino de Melo, in the Palácio da Justiça Cultural Center (avenue Eduardo Ribeiro, 901, Center), will be held the show of Gabriella Dias, piano and voice, with tickets to R$ 10 (full) and classification free.
