The building, which for decades was the headquarters of Manaus' City Hall, today unites architectural beauty with the origins of Manaus. The visitation is from 9am to 4:30pm.
Paintings, sculptures, poetry, and furniture by plastic artists from the state, such as Thiago de Melo, who has already donated his collection to the building, make up the scenery of the Paço da Liberdade, also known as Paço Municipal. Another relevant space is the archeology room, where a resistant glass floor can be observed from above, besides special lighting and archeological fragments found during works carried out in the place.
Archeology
Speaking of archeology, on the third day of the program, May 16, the Archaeology Fair of the PaçoEduardo Ribeiro, one of the main streets of the city center, revitalized by the Manaus City Hall.
According to archaeologist Vanessa Benedito, those visiting the fair will also be able to see some images of the archaeology team's work at the site, the place where some pieces were collected, and the treatment given to the material. These images will be constantly reproduced by the projector during the visitation.
"The archaeological material was identified and collected during the archaeological monitoring that took place during the requalification work. This is because there is a legislation of heritage protection that provides for archaeological research before or during certain works - in the case of Eduardo Ribeiro, for being located in the perimeter of the Historic Center", he commented.
Illustrative banners about the work of requalification of Eduardo Ribeiro, historical pieces such as bottles of crockery and glass, ceramic shackles and screws from the old streetcar track, as well as simulation of the context of when some of the pieces were identified and collected will be part of the visitation.
The guided tours at Paço da Liberdade will continue until next Friday, May 18, from 9am to 4pm.
