National Immigration Council holds event in São Paulo on August 4; registration must be done online.
O National Immigration Council (CNIg) will hold on August 4, in São Paulo, an activity that resumes the dialogue with civil society about migration policies for the country, continuing the actions of the Social Participation Forum (FPS).
The goal is to receive contributions for the regulation of the new migration law, as well as Brazil's position in the negotiations of the Global Compact for Migration, promoted by the United United Nations (UN).
Registration must be made through the Internet, until August 1st, using the form available at at portal of the Ministry Ministry of Labor portal. Migrants, entities, and citizens interested in policies related to international migration in the scope of CNIg's attributions can register. The activity is free of charge and 100 people can participate.
The schedule sets the beginning of the work for 8am, at the Fundação Jorge Duprat e Figueiredo (Fundacentro). The participants will be divided into four working groups and other details of the methodology will be presented at the opening table. At the end, there will be a plenary session with the presentation of proposals that will be forwarded to the Working Group, instituted on June 5th by the Ministry of Labor to discuss the project of the new migration law in Brazil.
About the Law
The new Migration Law 13,445/2017, which is in the Vocatio Legis (legal deadline to go into effect after its publication), establishes rights and duties of migrants and visitors in Brazil. Among other items, it regulates entry and stay in the country; establishes rules for granting documents and for insertion in the labor market, and establishes guidelines for the development of public policies.
