With the proximity of Christmas and the holiday season there is always that doubt of what to buy as a gift for that special friend or family member. A good tip is to bet on drinks such as wines and liqueurs. The sommelier at Pátio Gourmet, Pedro Missioneiro, lists some suggestions for those who don't want to make a mistake with the gift.
The first tip is the "Chandon Colors Collection Brut" kit, which, in addition to the drink, includes two exclusive glasses. Pedro Missioneiro explains that the sparkling wine is elaborated with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Riesling Itálico grapes and is excellent to accompany appetizers with any ingredient, such as carpaccios, green salads with vegetables or varied snacks.
Another option is the Spanish sparkling wine "Cava" Freixenet Carta Nevada Semi-dry made from the typical grapes of the Penedés region of Catalonia in Spain, parellada, macabeo, and xarello. The drink is ideal to accompany seafood, risottos, and white meats.
The sommelier also suggests the Chilean white wine "Rayun Reserva Chardonnay". According to him, if the chosen dish is based on fish or seafood, this Chardonnay is the right choice. The drink is also a great option to accompany cow's milk, buffalo, and goat's milk cheeses, from soft to semi-hard.
Another Chilean wine that is a great gift option is the white "Adobe Reserva Sauvignon Blanc". Young, light and acid white wines like this Sauvignon Blanc are an excellent choice for relaxing moments like happy hour. "Walnuts, dried fruit, parma ham, and various cheeses can accompany this informal moment, especially on hotter days like the Amazon summer," he explained.
Pedro Missioneiro also suggests the Argentine red wine "Finca Las Moras Reserva Malbec". The sommelier explains that this is a robust wine, moderately tannic, fresh, woody. It goes well with grilled picanha and chorizo steak, wild boar-like game stews, ossobuco with saffron risotto, and hard cheeses.
The sommelier also indicates two liqueurs. "Many people are still unaware, but throughout time, liqueur has always been served as a tasty dessert and can be accompanied by coffee," he said. Liqueurs are lightly aged, but must be left to rest for some time until they reach their ideal flavor. It is a sweet drink made with a mixture of herbs and plants that facilitate digestion. A good liqueur in the right dose goes very well after meals, lunch with friends, or even to give a touch of refinement and finish a special dinner.
The first tip is the Spanish liqueur brand "43" - Cuarenta y Tres. The name derives from the fact that its composition includes 43 different ingredients. The drink is an excellent choice as a digestif after meals or simply as an accompaniment to desserts. The last suggestion is the Italian liqueur Limoncello Villa Massa. It is the first and most famous "Limoncello" in the world. It is based on a family recipe and is produced exclusively through the infusion of fresh peels of the botanical species "Limone di Sorrento", a rich fruit with demarcated production in the Sorrento region of Italy, where the microclimate provides a unique system of cultivation. The ideal way to consume this liqueur is right after taking it out of the freezer.
