Transformations' is the theme of the 2nd edition of the Australian Film Festival

"Shine," "Getting in Line," and "Stolen Generation" are some of the works that will be screened.

Film fans can enjoy the second edition of the Australian Film Festivalthat will take place from April 16th to 20th, at 6:30pm, at the Gebes Medeiros Theater. The event is held by the Australian Embassy in Brazil, with support from the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat of Culture (SEC). Admission will be free.

This year, the exhibition will show a collection of Australian-made films with the common theme "Transformationstaking to the filmgoers works that portray real and fictional stories of overcoming and new beginnings.

Kicking off the event, on Monday (04/16) the film "Shine" (Shine, 1996), by director Scott Hicks, based on the biography of Australian pianist David Helfgott, and which won the Oscar for Best Actor to artist Geoffrey Rush in 1997. Indicative rating 12 years old.

On Tuesday (04/17), the audience will see the film "Strictly Ballroom (Come Dance With Me, 1992), first feature film by Baz Luhrmann, director of films such as "Romeo + Juliet" (1996), "Moulin Rouge" (2001) and "The Great Gatsby" (2013). The film tells the story of dancer Scott Hasting (Paul Mercurio), who challenged the community where he lives when he decided to create his own steps instead of dancing to already known choreography.

The comedy/police drama "Stepping Into Line" (2003), directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, will be the highlight of Wednesday (04/18), and tells the story of Barry Wirth (Sam Worthington), a "former outlaw" who has just gotten out of prison and is determined to run away from trouble. Rating: 14 years old.

Mystery, intrigue and death are part of the plot of the film "Lantana (2001), which will be screened on Thursday (04/19), with indicative rating 16 years old. In this work, director Ray Lawrence presents a plot with four marriages plunged into an intricate web of love, betrayal and death, where not everyone will survive.

Closing the showcase on Friday (04/20), the film "Stolen Generationby Phillip Noyce, tells the true story of three aboriginal girls who are taken from their families and trained as servants, but who manage to escape and travel almost 2500 kilometers across the desert to return home.
