The Shopping Ponta Negra, in partnership with the Hospital Foundation for Hematology and Hemotherapy of the State of Amazonas (Hemoam), will be holding this Thursday (23/01), from 13h to 19h, a blood donation campaign. The Mobile Unit Hemoam, known as "Vampirão", will be in the external parking lot (L1) of the mall to meet the people who want to make the blood donation.
This Tuesday (21) and Wednesday (22), from 10am to 10pm, Hemoam will have a booth, located on the second floor (L1) of the mall, to promote the campaign and ask questions about donations.
The assistant manager of external collection of Hemoam, Eleonora Alencar, says that the organ has intensified the actions of collection with the goal of reaching up to a thousand bags of blood by carnival. "We are working to ensure a good stock for this period, when demand increases," she says.
People of all blood types can donate. "Especially those who have the O-, which is universal donor, ie, donates to all types of the group, and the O +, which is the most common blood in the Amazonian population ", said Eleonora.

Among them, to be over 18 years old, to carry an official document with photo, to be well fed (avoid fatty food in the 4 hours before the donation), to weigh over 50 kilos, to have had a good night's sleep (to have slept at least 6 hours in the last 24 hours), not to have taken medicine or drunk alcoholic beverages.
People who have had hepatitis after the age of 11, Malaria, some type of cancer, Chagas' disease, or who have undergone organ or marrow transplants, cannot participate in the donation. Hemoam obeys the norms of the Ministry of Health, which aims to offer safety and protection to the receiver and the donor.
