The State of Amazonas was chosen to host the regional stage of the Youth School Games (JEJ's). The announcement was made by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC)on Wednesday evening (March 28), during the 19th edition of the Brazilian Olympic Awards, at the Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro. With the support of the Government of Amazonas, through the State Secretariat for Youth, Sports and leisure (Sejel), the event, which will be held in Manaus from 19 to 23 of September, will feature competitions in four modalities (basketball, futsal, handball and volleyball), in children and youth categories, in male and female suits. The tournament will involve athletes from Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Federal District, Amapá, Roraima, Rondônia, Pará, and Acre.

On March 7th this year, the State Government, through Sejel, received members of the Brazilian Olympic Committee (BOC), who met at the governor's box, in the Arena da Amazônia, south-center zone of Manaus. At the time, at least 12 gyms were visited, as well as hotels and possible places for the installation of committee and support rooms during the competition.
