Municipal Library João Bosco Pantoja Evangelista

The Municipal Library was created by law number 971 on January 2nd, 1967, and by decree number 27 on March 12th, 1975. It is currently linked to the Municipal Foundation of Culture and Tourism (Manauscult) and is part of the National Library System.

It was named after the teacher, writer, poet and journalist João Bosco Pantoja Evangelista, one of the founders of the Madrugada Club and the União Brasileira de Escritores/Amazonas Section.

It has a collection of approximately 4 thousand books, which covers various areas of knowledge, the collection can cater for children's audiences. The works vary among Amazonian thematic books, didactic, academic, ludic, pedagogical, Braille, and audio book (inclusion material).

The João Bosco Pantoja Evangelista Library develops the projects Writer Student, Window of Knowledge and Reading Legends, directed to the Municipal Education network; The Reading Incentive Program - Proler which is an agreement with the Ministry of Culture/National Library and the Bibliocultural, a project which seeks partnerships in the city of Manaus. These Projects aim to develop and encourage the intellectual, cultural, and creative side of students, often undeveloped due to lack of opportunities.

Access to the site is free, and entry is allowed upon presentation of a student ID or student ID.
