Abrigo Moacyr Alves supports people with disabilities in Manaus. The institution launched the Projeto Cadeira de Rodas in March 2019 to distribute free equipment. This initiative operates through a partnership with the World Health Organization and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, ensuring patient mobility improves via custom-fitted wheelchairs.
Registration and Distribution
The project provides 600 wheelchairs. Registration takes place at the physiotherapy department of the headquarters, located at Rua Profª Léa Alencar, 1014, in the Alvorada I neighborhood. Service runs from 8h to 11h and 13h to 17h, while specialists perform in-person evaluations to determine the correct size for each piece of equipment.
You must present documents. Interested individuals should bring copies of their RG, CPF, proof of address, and the SUS card to complete the registration.
