Bosque da Ciência is part of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia. It opened on April 1st, 1995, to celebrate 40 years of INPA. The site covers 13 hectares within the urban perimeter of Manaus. It promotes environmental education and local biodiversity preservation through scientific outreach programs.
Structure and Attractions
The park offers several trails. Visitors can walk the Trilha Suspensa or the Trilhas Educativas to observe local fauna. The site includes the Tanque de Peixe-Boi, the Viveiro de Ariranhas, and the Viveiro dos Jacarés so that guests can see native species in controlled environments.
Historical buildings exist on-site. The Casa da Ciência and Casa de Madeira form the educational landscape of the woods. Visitors also encounter Ilha da Tanimbuca and Lago Amazônico during their walk.
Visitation Information
Entry costs R$ 5. Children up to 10 years old and seniors over 60 do not pay. The Bosque operates Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-17:00, although the gate closes at 16:00.
Access is widespread. On Saturdays and Sundays, opening hours are 09:00-17:00. The gate closes at 16:00 every day to ensure site security.
