The Centro Cultural dos Povos da Amazônia (CCPA) serves as a research and cultural hub within the Distrito Industrial. The site houses the Museu do Homem do Norte along with the Mário Ypiranga Monteiro and Arthur Reis libraries. It offers free exhibitions regarding regional history, while attempting to integrate visitors into the reality of Amazonian peoples through replicas and collections.
Spaces and Exhibitions
The museum is comprehensive. Praça das Bandeiras displays the colors of nine countries from the Continental Amazon, so that visitors understand the region's territorial extent. The Espaço Rio Amazonas features a 15-meter high dome constructed with arumã fibers from Novo Airão.
Local replicas are available. Casa do Caboclo shows riverside daily life, while the Xapono Yanomami reproduces indigenous housing for groups of up to 300 people. The Barracão do Guaraná features an original machine from Maués, which is located 258 kilometers from Manaus.
Research and Collection
The libraries are significant. Mário Ypiranga Monteiro and Arthur Reis hold 34,000 works for technical consultation. About 20 researchers use the space monthly because the collection contains historical documents, newspapers, and regional pamphlets.
The museum includes a cinema. Cine Silvino Santos screens Amazonian documentaries for the local public. The Museu do Homem do Norte details rituals, archaeology, and boi-bumbá culture.
