The Museu do Seringal Vila Paraíso preserves the memory of the rubber cycle in Amazonas. Opened on August 16, 2002, the space reproduces a rubber plantation from the late 19th century. The site was established after the State Government donated the set from the film “A Selva,” which was filmed at the original facilities.
History and Collection
The collection tells a regional story. The museum displays furniture and utensils from the era when rubber held immense economic value. Guided tours highlight the contrast between the luxurious life of the rubber baron and the working conditions of the rubber tappers, who lived in situations analogous to slavery.
How to Get There and Visiting
Access is exclusively by river. The journey takes 25 to 30 minutes from Marina do Davi, located at the end of the Ponta Negra beach road. The crossing is provided by ACAMDAF, which handles transport for an average cost of R$ 14 for a round trip.
Check the official hours. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9h to 16h. The last guided tour begins promptly at 15h, so visitors should plan their arrival in advance.
