Exhibition 'Lambes de Todo o Mundo' opens at the Galeria do largo

International Lambe-Lambe Festival brings together 800 works by 130 artists from Brazil and the world. The opening of the show is next Friday (February 28th) from 7pm

A collective mural inspired by street art occupies, starting next Friday (2/28), the Mediations Space of the Largo Galleryin the Center of Manaus. It is the International Lambe-Lambe Festival - Lambes from All Over the Worldproduced by the artist Eraquário.

There are more than 800 lambe-lambe posters, printed in various sizes or produced by hand, which take this name because of the manual collage process on walls and walls. There are 130 artists participating, 11 from capitals in the North (Manaus, Macapá, and Porto Velho) and from countries like Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand.

The initiative for the exhibition is from artist and designer Luiz Limaknown in the artistic world as @eraquário. He made a call in the social networks and received many lambe-lambes by mail. "Not all of them were used and some we will exhibit in the streets of Manaus," says the artist. There is a bit of everything in the material, and he reminds us that most of them have a political message, even if subtle. The most explicit messages that will be in the exhibition, he recalls, make reference to female emancipation and sexual freedom.

Eraquário (Luiz Lima) explains that street art as an artistic manifestation is common in big cities and is done by self-taught people. His work, which is influenced by various languages - from pop art to comics, makes provocative references to symbols of LGBT discourse, such as the figure of the heroes Batman and Robin kissing.

Among the artists, Lima highlights the work of Alberto Pereira, from Rio de Janeiro, and Hello The Mushroom, from England. From the North region, besides Luís' work, there are lambes by artists such as Mendes Auá and Keila Serruya (Manaus), Kenaldy (Boa Vista, RR), Movemoov (Macapá, AP) and Vih Mourão (Porto Velho, RR). There are also works by participants in lambe-lambe production workshops that Lima held in September 2019 and earlier this year.

In the Espaço Mediações, which is on the second floor of the Galeria do Largo, the solo exhibition by Univercaos, by Micael Santos (@/l6216f73), who will also have some of his work in the Lambes exhibition. Santos works with collages, which he extracts from magazines and also manipulates on the computer. He makes some "jokes" with symbols of Manaus, like the photo of the Teatro Amazonas where the street gives way to the river and there is a forest in the background.

The two exhibitions will open next Friday (2/28) at 7pm, and will remain open until May 31, from 2pm to 8pm. The Galeria do Largo is located at Rua Costa Azevedo, 290, Largo de São Sebastião, in the center of Manaus.
