Parque Municipal Ponte dos Bilhares is a 60,000 m² urban space. It is located in the Chapada neighborhood, within the Centro-Sul zone of Manaus. The area preserves secondary vegetation along the banks of the Mindu and Cachoeira igarapés, serving as a green refuge amidst the intense commerce of Djalma Batista and Constantino Nery avenues.
History and Concept
The park opened on October 24, 2006. The city government celebrated this date during the anniversary of Manaus. While the project uses a Belle Époque style to recover the memory of old trams, its main focus is providing leisure and environmental preservation for local residents.
Structure and Leisure
The site features several physical attractions. There is a skate park and three multi-sport courts. A 72-meter metal walkway connects the east and west sides of the park, while the amphitheater uses the tree mass as a sound barrier to protect the lagoon environment.
Children can use the playgrounds. These toys are made from reforestation wood. The park also offers a library in partnership with Sesi, which provides computers and children's books to encourage reading.
Gastronomy and Culture
Praça da Fogueira is a central point. It features bleachers and lamps around its base. This space hosts regional crafts because it seeks to value the city's folkloric traditions through mobile stalls and cultural events.
Regional food options are available. Visitors can eat tacacá, tapioca, or açaí. The local gastronomy is varied, allowing the public to enjoy typical Amazonas flavors during their visit.
